- Always thoroughly check your patient’s medical record to verify any allergies or sensitivities to the prescribed medication. If you are unsure of the information on the record, double-check with the practitioner.
- Do one task at a time; don’t confuse yourself by preparing medications for more than one patient at a time.
- Make sure that you fully understand all elements of the prescription medicine that you are administering. You need to be aware of many aspects including the drug’s name, the required dosage, and how often you will be administering the medication to your patient.
