This unit of competency teaches the skills and knowledge required for insertion of intravenous cannula.
Cannulation requires skill and commitment and participants who wish to undertake this training should have access to or support from their workplace to allow them to practice and refine their skills after they have completed their training. You will be provided with access to your online learning prior to the course commencing.

This course is blended. You will access theory content online and complete some learning prior to the face-to-face training, where you will practise clinical cannulation skills.
This course requires you to have a good understanding of written, verbal and spoken English and maths (known as language, literacy and numeracy ‘LLN’). All students who enrol in a course are required to undertake Adept Training’s LLN assessment.
While not a prerequisite, we strongly recommend all students be immunised for Hepatitis A and B before enrolling in the course.
We strongly recommend you have knowledge and skills associated with blood collection through previous training or experience. Participants undertaking this unit of competency will need the support of their workplace to be able to demonstrate skills learnt in training.
Students will need access to a computer (a laptop or similar, not a mobile phone) and reliable internet to undertake their study and participate in online learning.
Theory is completed through self-paced online study, then you attend your two practical days on campus at Harris Park.
