Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

What is RPL?
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) acknowledges the skills and knowledge you have gained through previous training, work or life experience.
RPL is only granted where there is enough evidence that you are competent in an entire unit of competency. It can't be granted for part of a unit.
When to apply
Your RPL application must be lodged and assessed before your course starts, so apply as early as you can.
Fees
- Application fee: $800, non-refundable.
- Plus $750 for each unit of competency you are seeking RPL for.
- Fees must be paid before your application is processed and are non-refundable, whatever the outcome.
How to apply
- 1Check the unit requirementsLook up each unit you are applying for on training.gov.au.
- 2Complete the application formGive details of your experience and evidence for every section of the form.
- 3Complete your enrolmentComplete the enrolment form and LLN assessment, and provide your USI and photo ID.
- 4Pay and submitPay the fees and email your form and evidence to operations@adepttraining.com.au.
You may be asked to attend an interview with an RPL assessor. We'll let you know the outcome within 10 working days of receiving your completed form, evidence and fees.
Possible outcomes
- RPL granted: your application met all requirements and RPL is awarded.
- RPL denied: your application didn't meet the requirements. We'll give you feedback.
- More evidence required: your experience is sufficient but more supporting evidence is needed. We'll tell you what to provide.
Evidence must be certified copies or originals and won't be returned.
