CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

What will I learn?

As a support learner you will learn how to create and follow individualised plans to provide person-centred care to people who may require support due to a disability, either physically or mentally in both community and individual settings. Your work will involve using discretion and judgement in relation to individualised care and ensuring client’s health needs are being met. This includes personal, domestic, social and respite care.

Career opportunities

When you have successfully completed the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support course you may find employment in the following job roles:

  • Assistant in nursing (AIN)
  • Residential care home worker
  • Hospital worker
  • Aged care home worker
  • Home and community care worker
  • Disability support worker
  • Home care worker

Is there any work placement?

120 hours of work placement is expected to complete your training. Adept Training will coordinate work placements for students wherever possible; candidates are encouraged to find their own placement. Please note that a Police check is required for undergoing placement. We have paired up with some of the best in the business to provide you with clinical work experience.

Is this course face to face or distance?

Our courses are delivered face to face 2 days per week in the classroom for 22 weeks and 1 day a week in the workplace for 17 weeks, starting after week 5.

After this it is recommenced to gain employment for 3 days a week for up to a further 28 weeks. This allows time to complete workplace observation assessment requirements and gain industry skills.

We also recommend home study of approximately 5 hours per week.

All assessments (apart from those observations that must be completed in a workplace) will be completed face to face in the classroom with the support of your trainer. You will not be expected to complete assessments on your own, at home.

Units of competency

There are a total of 15 units that make up CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support; 9 core units and 6 electives. These units are delivered through a blended face to face learning, online workplace-based education method. Please note that you will need access to a computer, internet, email, Microsoft and Adobe to complete units. Work placement is arranged if you do not currently work in a aged and/or disability environment.
