HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting

How does a traineeship work?

  • An employer chooses the best candidate for the job using their normal selection criteria.
  • The new employee is registered with the Government under a traineeship contract.
  • The employer trains the staff member to their specific requirements, on the job.
  • Adept Training provides formal training and assessment to meet the requirements of the accredited qualification. This occurs via virtual classroom and during scheduled workplace visits from our experienced trainers.
  • There is close collaboration between the trainer, employer and staff member to ensure training is tailored to the business needs, and the staff member gains a recognised qualification.

Benefits of a traineeship

Benefits for the trainee are that they earn while they learn, eligible for travel concession card and gain real life experience resulting in a nationally recognised qualification.

Benefits for the employer is increased staff retention, a more skilled and qualified work force trained to your particular specifications. Eligible employers are entitled to payroll tax incentives and award trainee pay rates.

Entry requirements

This course requires the trainee to have a good understanding of written, verbal and spoken English and maths (known as language, literacy and numeracy ‘LLN’).  All students who enrol in a qualification are required to undertake a written, digital and verbal LLN assessment. There may be additional pre- employment requirements such as immunisation, police checks, working with children checks (WWCC) etc. requested by the individual employer.

How long does it take to complete this traineeship?

Full-time staff have up to 12 months to complete a traineeship although it is more usual to complete within approximately 10 months.

Part-time or casual staff have up to 24 months to complete a traineeship.

Fees

There is no fee for new entrant trainees. A new entrant trainee is an employee in their first 3 months of full-time employment of their first 12 months of employment for part-time or casual staff.
